『1978年2月9日(2月2日?)サンフランシスコ、ボーディングハウスにて行われたライブ。1977年にロジャー・マッギン、ジーン・クラーク、クリス・ヒルマンによるライブがUS＆ヨーロッパで行われ、その時は各ソロや様々なコンビネーションによるパフォーマンスが行われたが、1978年の当ライブではデヴィッド・クロスビーも参加して、聴衆を沸かせた。本盤は、KSAN-FMが放送用に録音した音源を使用。』 HMV RECORDS 商品説明より

1973年にザ・バーズ(=オリジナルバーズ)のメンバーは再集結しアライサム・レコードから1枚のアルバムを残しました。その後1977年にロジャー・マッギンとクリス・ヒルマンそしてジーン・クラークの3名は一緒にライブ活動をスタートし、[McGuinn, Clark & Hillman]等の数枚のアルバムを発表しますが、このツアーはそんな時期にD・クロスビーも参加した公演です。ドラムとベースなしの彼らのアコースティックな演奏が楽しめます。デヴィッド・クロスビーは8曲目から16曲目までゲストとして参加しています。良好なFM音源のステレオ録音です。

『ザ・バーズがデビュー前の64年にデモ・レコーデイングした通称‘ワールド・パシフィック・セッション’のコンプリート版の登場だ。かつては‘Early L.A’‘Preflyte’‘in The Beginning’に収録されてきた楽曲群に加え、今回初出のテイクを16曲も追加。貴重な写真が満載の52ページの豪華ブックレットも嬉しい。内容の方だが、前身のビーフィターズ、ジェット・セット時代にも増して、グループ加入以前のデヴィッド・クロスビーのソロ4曲(うちSIDE2-⑨⑩は今回初登場)に、まず目を奪われる。のち67年頃に開花することになる彼の幻想的な作風の発芽が、すでに垣間見れるのが興味深い。この時期のバーズは、まだ‘フォークとロックの融合’というより、‘ビートルズ的なるもの’を自分たちの体内に取り込むことを目標としていたことは一目瞭然だが、それにしてもジーン・クラークの作曲能力の高さは目を見張るものがある。ウエスト・コースト・サウンドの無垢な第一歩に感動。』

尚、この盤は米サンダズド・レコード発売品をソリッド・レコードが国内仕様で2001年に発売したものですが、52ページにおよぶ英語解説書(画像10右)が付属されています。しかし新譜で大手CD通販(多分T or H社)から購入した際に(付属帯の記載にあるような)「ポストカード2種」と「二万字完全対訳」を購入時から見た記憶がないので入っていなかったと思われます。また、外箱が付いていますが、当時の隙間に余裕のない梱包を開封する際にカッターで上部(画像10左上)が切れています。中のプラケース及び盤は20年以上箱に守られていましたのでピカピカの状態で問題ありません。その様な商品であることをご理解の上ご検討下さい。

"A live performance held at the Boarding House in San Francisco on February 9th, 1978 (February 2nd?). In 1977, Roger McGuinn, Gene Clark, and Chris Hillman held a live performance in the US and Europe, where each member performed solo or in various combinations, but this 1978 live performance also featured David Crosby, who thrilled the audience. This album uses the sound source recorded for broadcast by KSAN-FM." From HMV RECORDS product description

In 1973, the members of The Byrds (= the original Byrds) reunited and released one album on Alysham Records. Later, in 1977, Roger McGuinn, Chris Hillman and Gene Clark started performing together and released several albums, including [McGuinn, Clark & Hillman], but this tour was a performance with D. Crosby during that time. You can enjoy their acoustic performance without drums or bass. David Crosby appears as a guest on tracks 8 to 16. It is a stereo recording with good FM sound source.

② is the complete version of the so-called 'World Pacific Sessions', which the Byrds recorded as a demo in 1964 before their debut. In addition to the songs that were previously included in 'Early L.A', 'Preflyte' and 'in The Beginning', 16 new takes have been added for the first time. Compared to the CBS sound from 1966, it is still a practice, but the recording from 1964, before their debut, has been released on CD. It was first released in 1969, when they were already famous, and has been reissued several times since then, so it is a familiar sound to fans, but it is a precious sound of the departure of the Byrds. This is a take before four songs, including "Mr. Tambourine Man," were re-recorded for the first album. Record Collectors August 2001 issue, from Mori Tsutomu's Line Notes

This record was released in 2001 by Solid Records in Japan, based on the US release by Sandazed Records, and comes with a 52-page English commentary book (right, image 10). However, when I bought it as a new release from a major CD mail order company (probably T or H), I don't remember seeing the "2 types of postcards" and "20,000-character complete translation" (as stated on the included obi), so I don't think they were included. Also, the outer box is included, but the top (upper left, image 10) was cut with a cutter when opening the packaging, which had no space at the time. The plastic case and record inside have been protected by the box for over 20 years, so they are in perfect condition. Please consider this product with the understanding that it is such a product.

I'm listing these for inventory management, but I'm sorry, but I won't sell them separately. Please purchase as a set of two. I've kept them carefully, and the records are clean, but as stated above, please refrain from purchasing if you are nervous. No claims or returns please. I will try to ship quickly.
