【Sugimoto Sadamitsu】
He graduated from Konan High School in 1956. In 1968 he built a kiln in the mountains of Hosohara, Shigaraki and started making tea ceramics and relief works. In 1970, he received instruction in pottery from Ikeda Yushi, the director of the Tenmon Museum. In 1974, he trained with Tachibana Daiki and they started research on Shigaraki tea ceramics. In 1976, Tachibana Daiki gave his kiln the name "Teragaido". He held his first solo exhibition in 1978. Since then he's continued various research ventures into different Japanese pottery traditions.
