ザ・フーは、イギリスの4人組ロックバンド。ビートルズ、ローリング・ストーンズと並び、60年代のイギリスの歴史ある3大ロックバンドの一つに数えられる。

デビュー当初はスモール・フェイセスと並びモッズ族のバンドだったが、アルバム『ロック・オペラ “トミー”』でロック・オペラというジャンルを確立。ギターを叩き壊しドラムセットを破壊する暴力的なパフォーマンスと文学性豊かな歌詞世界とのギャップが魅力のひとつでもあった。1968年暮れスト―ンズのTVショー「ロックンロール・サーカス」に呼ばれゲスト参加したが、(スト－ンズを食った)見事な演奏＆パフォーマンスがこの番組の放送中止の一因とも言われている。本CDは、キース・ムーンがドラマーだった時期の曲で編集リリースされたベスト盤CD。キースの最後のドラムを聴ける９曲目「WHO ARE YOU」は、最近まで放送されていた米国刑事ものTVドラマ「CSI;科学捜査班」のテーマ曲としても使われている。

The Who is a British four-piece rock band. Along with the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, they are counted as one of the three major British rock bands of the 60s.

When they debuted, they were a mod band along with the Small Faces, but they established the rock opera genre with their album "Rock Opera "Tommy". One of the attractions of the band was the contrast between their violent performances, in which they smashed guitars and destroyed drum sets, and their literary lyrics. At the end of 1968, they were invited to appear as guests on the Stones' TV show "Rock and Roll Circus," and it is said that their spectacular performance (which overshadowed the Stones) was one of the reasons the show was canceled. This CD is a compilation of songs from the time when Keith Moon was the drummer. The ninth track, "WHO ARE YOU," in which you can hear Keith's final drumming, was also used as the theme song for the American detective TV drama "CSI; Crime Scene Investigation," which aired until recently.
